BENSON – The Town of Benson, through the Benson Art Advisory Board, has announced a Call to Artists for a wall mural on the Lee Street Gymnasium, located at 312 S. Lee Street. This opportunity is currently open to all mural artists or artist teams.
This will be the third mural project for the Benson Art Advisory Board. The board was formed in 2020 and its members are appointed by the Benson Board of Commissioners. The Arts Board oversees the creation, review, and approval of mural projects, among other art installations throughout town.
This mural opportunity is made possible by the Johnston County Visitors Bureau through occupancy taxes collected from Benson hotels.
The mural will be located on the outside wall of the Lee Street Gym facing the ballfields. Artists are asked to submit concepts that focus on the sports hosted at PK Vyas Park and the Lee Street Gym. The work should consider the themes of our town athletics and also be of a creative nature to best represent the general feeling of a fun, vibrant, diverse, and popular community park.
