A Johnston County man was arrested on multiple charges after he reportedly led deputies on a three county high speed chase. The pursuit started on Lake Wendell Road in northern Johnston County, then traveled through Wake County and Franklin County before the driver was eventually stopped near Bunn.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office said a patrol deputy was traveling on Lake Wendell Road around 9:00pm Friday night when he spotted a 2002 Honda Accord operating with only one headlight and no tail lights. The officer stopped the vehicle and as the deputy began to approach the Honda, the driver accelerated reaching speeds of 70 miles per hour.
As the chase entered Wake County and just before entering the Wendell city limits the pursuit briefly reached speeds of 90mph. The chase also traveled through the Bunn city limits before the fleeing driver was stopped in rural Franklin County.
After the chase ended, deputies said they found a 16 year-old passenger and a shotgun in the vehicle.
Bobby Wayne Faircloth, 24, of Simon Road, Middlesex was charged with felony fleeing to elude arrest, carrying a concealed firearm, reckless driving, speeding, driving on a revoked license and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He was returned to the Johnston County Jail and held under a $102,000 bond. The Honda Accord was seized under the Run and Your Done state law.
No accidents or injuries were reported during the lengthy pursuit.
