KENLY – One driver was seriously injured and a second driver arrested after a serious two vehicle crash on Highway 222. The wreck occurred at 9:47am September 3rd about six miles west of Kenly.
The State Highway Patrol charged Amber Crystal Nims, 35, of Clayton with driving while impaired and improper passing.
Troopers said Nims traveling towards Kenly in a burgundy 2017 Dodge SUV and was attempting to overtake and pass a blue 2016 Mitsubishi SUV in front of her. As Nims began to pass, the Mitsubishi began to make a left turn onto Debro Road. The Dodge struck the Mitsubishi in the driver’s side, causing the Mitsubishi to overturn off the roadway.
The driver of the Mitsubishi, Christian David Reed, 56, of Kenly was seriously injured and transported to WakeMed. There were no passengers in either vehicle.
Nims was evaluated at the scene by EMS before being arrested by troopers.
