An arrest has been made after a motorcyclist was assaulted in Wilson’s Mills last month.
On November 3rd, a 76 year-old man said he decided to ride his motorcycle in his neighborhood. After turning onto Hazel Street in Wilson’s Mills the victim said he was flagged down by a man. The victim said the suspect allegedly told him he didn’t want him driving the motorcycle in front of his home. The victim said he told the man it was a public highway and he could ride on it anytime he wanted.
That’s when the victim said he was struck in the head causing serious injuries.
Following an investigation by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, Dewayne Edward Pounds, 30, of Hazel Street, Wilson’s Mills was arrested Friday and charged with assault inflicting serious bodily injury. Authorities said the men lived a short distance apart and knew one another.
Pounds was given a $25,000 bond on the felony charge.
