GOLDSBORO – Two people have been arrested by police investigators after a 5 month-old baby recently overdosed on narcotics. On March 12th, the Goldsboro Police Department responded to a call on Vanderbilt Circle in regards to an unresponsive 5 month-old juvenile victim. Police said the child was transported to Wayne UNC Healthcare in Goldsboro and later airlifted to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville for treatment of a drug overdose.
After an investigation, Lance Patrick Gardner, 36, and Kelsey Jana Hood, 28, were charged with felony negligent child abuse and maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances. Both suspects were arrested on March 17th by members of the Goldsboro Criminal Investigations Unit at their Vanderbilt Circle home and brought to the Wayne County Magistrate’s Office. They were both given $25,000 secured bonds.
Authorities did not disclose the type of narcotics involved.
