Update: Felony Assault Suspect In Custody
UPDATE 6:30 p.m. July 2, 2025 – Cody Ray Rice was located at a motel in Raleigh today and is in custody.

CLAYTON – Clayton Police are searching for Cody Ray Rice, age 30, on warrants charging him with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, assault on a female, and misdemeanor domestic violence.
Around 10:00 p.m. Tuesday, Clayton Police were dispatched to a domestic call on Keswick Lane. Officers discovered a female who had a large laceration on her leg as a result of the incident.
Police said Cody Ray Rice assaulted the female inside the residence before she ran to a neighbor’s house for help and called 911. Rice fled the scene before Officers arrived.
The victim was transported to JMH Clayton where she was treated and later released.
Clayton Police have responded to this residence on five separate occasions during the month of June.
