Clayton To Honor Local Veterans With Annual Recognition Ceremony

CLAYTON — The Town of Clayton will honor local military veterans during its annual Veterans Recognition Ceremony on Monday, November 3, offering residents a chance to pay tribute to the courage, sacrifice, and service of those who have worn the uniform of the United States Armed Forces.

The ceremony will begin at 5 p.m. at The Clayton Center, located at 111 East Second Street, and is open to the public. The event will include patriotic music, special remarks, and a tribute to local veterans.

Mayor Pro Tem Michael Sims, a retired U.S. Marine, will serve as the evening’s guest speaker, sharing personal stories and insights from his time in service.

The hour-long ceremony will conclude just before the Town Council’s regular meeting at 6 p.m., taking place across the hall in the Town Council Chambers. Attendees will also receive Veterans Day pins and green light bulbs, encouraging them to continue their show of support beyond the event.

These green lights are part of Project Green Light, a national initiative urging residents and businesses to display green lights in windows during the week of Veterans Day. The simple act serves as a visible sign of appreciation and solidarity with those who have served.
