CLAYTON – The Town of Clayton and The Clayton Center are commemorating Juneteenth 2025 with a free public performance. Jackie Robinson: A Game Apart, written and performed by Mike Wiley will take place at 3 p.m., Saturday, June 14 at The Clayton Center, located at 111 East Second Street.
This live performance shares the story of Jackie Robinson, a well-known figure in baseball history. It follows his journey as he worked to succeed during a time when rules and treatment were not the same for everyone. On the field, he was praised for his talent. Off the field, he often faced unfair situations.
The program gives a look into what daily life was like for Robinson. It shows the obstacles he dealt with, like staying in different places from his teammates or not being allowed to enter certain businesses through the front door. It also explores how he managed those challenges with patience and determination.
The performance is led by Mike Wiley, an experienced actor and educator. Along with his theater work, he teaches at Duke University in areas that focus on ethics and learning.
This event is part of Clayton’s annual Juneteenth Celebration.
