College Instructor Accused Of Having Drugs In Prison

LILLINGTON – An instructor at Central Carolina Community College is facing several drug charges after she was allegedly busted with narcotics inside the Harnett Correctional Center Wednesday.

Joanna Cox Lewis, 54, of 112 Tarpley Way, Garner, is charged with two counts of possessing a controlled substance in a prison and one count each of delivering a Schedule II and Schedule III substance and maintaining a place for a controlled substance.

College officials confirmed Lewis is employed as a barber instructor who was working in the prison.

She was arrested Aug. 3 and booked into the Harnett County Detention Center under a $20,000 bond. She has since been released and is set to appear in court on Friday.
