Commissioners Approve Rezoning Petitions For Landscaping & Outdoor Storage Businesses

ANGIER – Johnston County Commissioners unanimously approved a request for two new businesses operated by the same company at different locations. JMS Investment Group, LLC of Apex received approval to rezone 14.57 acres in the 700 block of Pea Ridge Road at the Harnett County line to General Business-Conditional Rezoning.

The property is currently vacant. The company plans to locate a landscaping business with a related office, trucks, and equipment on the site. There will be no equipment parking for other businesses.

Commissioners placed a number of conditions on the rezoning including lighting requirements, a landscape buffer, obtaining a NC DOT driveway permit, and turn lane if the DOT requests one. The county also limited hours of operation from 6:00am until 8:00pm Monday through Saturday.

In a separate rezoning case for JMS Investment Group, commissioners agreed to rezone 13.69 acres at 2752 Plain View Church Road to General Business-Conditional Rezoning. The company plans to operate an outdoor storage business for boats, RV’s, travel trailers, and trailers.

There are seven proposed new subdivisions within a three mile radius of the property. Some HOA covenants do not allow storage of boats and RV’s, and the new outdoor storage business would be close to the new subdivisions for those needing their services.

The board placed 17 conditions on the storage business, including setting the hours of operation from 7:00am until 9:00pm seven days a week.

I sure do and it starts with our county commissioners NOT doing their jobs!!
