Convenience Store Robbed

SMITHFIELD – Two men made away with an undisclosed amount of money during the robbery of a Smithfield-area convenience store. The robbery was reported at 9:03pm Sunday, December 26th at Myers Community Mart at 4321 US Highway 70 East.

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office said two unknown black male suspects entered the store. One went to the restroom while the second suspect took a drink to the counter to pay. When the clerk opened the register, the suspect grabbed an undisclosed amount of money from the register and fled. 

No injuries were reported.

  1. This store has now as I understand has changed hands. The years the oldman Myers operated it I do not believe anything like this was ever even attempted. Should this had happened when the old man was operating this store between him and the rest of the family it was simply be a successful suicide attempt. It is called consequences.

    • I agree. I’m pretty sure everyone that worked behind the counter when Mr. Myers owned the store would have been armed. I cant recall that store every being robbed before.
