Convenience Store Robbed By 2 Suspects, Clerk Arrested

Four Oaks Police are investigating the robbery of a convenience store.  It happened at 11:30PM Sunday. Two suspects robbed the Sunoco at 217 US 701 South next to I-95.

Police Chief Stephen Anderson said the suspects entered the Sunoco and demanded money from the clerk.  One suspect went behind the counter and grabbed all the $10, $20 and $100 bills then left.

A white 1996-1998 model Honda Civic with a missing front right hubcap was parked on the shoulder of Devil’s Racetrack Road. The suspects got into the vehicle and were last seen on Interstate 95 northbound.   No weapon was displayed.  Police did not disclose exactly how money was taken by the two suspects.

While police were investigating the robbery and speaking with the clerk, they began reviewing video surveillance footage of the incident.  While reviewing the footage, Chief Anderson said officers saw the clerk immediately place a call to 911 reporting the robbery. But prior to police arriving on the scene, the clerk, Brenda Karina Arreaza, 25, of Four Oaks, reportedly took the $1 and $5 bills left behind by the suspects and placed the cash in her purse.  The larceny of the $120 in cash was captured on security video.

Police charged Arreaza with felonious larceny by an employee. She was jailed under a $100,000 bond.

The search for the two suspects and their getaway vehicle continues. Anyone with information about the 11:30PM Sunday holdup at the Sunoco is asked to contact Four Oaks Police at 919-963-3112.  Callers may remain anonymous.
