SMITHFIELD – Johnston County Commissioners have set the date for the annual County of Johnston and Sheriff’s Office Surplus Property Auction. The event will take place on Saturday, November 7th at 10:00am at the Johnston County Sheriff’s Fleet Services Building at 60 Shelter Way in Smithfield.
Over 30 vehicles will be auctioned off to the highest bidder including four 2010-2011 Ford Crown Victorias, thirteen 2014-2015 Dodge Chargers, a 2008 Chevy Tahoe and a 2013 Nissan Altima.
Other items include three Ford ambulances and a 2002 Ford Explorer from Johnston County Emergency Services. Public Utilities has surplused a 2000 Chevy truck and a 2006 Chevy 4×4 truck. Three vehicles formerly used by Animal Services will be sold. They include a 2013 Ford F-150 truck, 2005 Chevy truck and a 1989 Ford E-350 short bus. A 2003 Dodge Caravan formerly used by the Health Department will be sold at the auction.
Sheriff Steve Bizzell said over 50 unclaimed property and other miscellaneous items will be sold. The unclaimed items include a mobile pig cooker, 7’x16′ landscape trailer, Polaris 500 Sportsman four wheeler, John Deere L110 riding lawnmower, chrome car rims, Nintendo gaming system, string trimmers, Ryobi drills, McCulloch chainsaw, new Breitling watch, Cannon digital camera, and two new Nest Learning thermostats. Other items include a WARN winch, Porter Cable chop saw, UWS aluminum truck toolbox, Lincoln floor jacks, fluorescent light fixtures and exterior lights.
Wester Auction Company of Benson will conduct the Nov. 7th auction. During the auction, social distancing and other protective measures will be encouraged.
