Couple Charged With Stealing Marked Patrol Car

A Benson couple was arrested Monday afternoon after they allegedly took a marked patrol car from the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office on a short joyride.

Around 12:12pm, a deputy sheriff had responded to a disturbance call at 971 T-Bar Road Lot 10 in the Meadow community outside of Benson.   While at the scene of the disturbance, two residents from Lot 11 allegedly stole the officers patrol car and drove away.

Other officers responding to the call located the stolen patrol car a few minutes away and arrested the couple during a traffic stop.

Charles Bullock, 36, and his girlfriend, Nicole Thomas, 41, were arrested.

Bullock was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and larceny of a firearm for a weapon in the trunk of the patrol car. The weapon was recovered.

Thomas was charged with conspiracy to commit larceny of a motor vehicle and conspiracy to commit larceny of a firearm.

The patrol car was not damaged.
