Crimes At Three Businesses Likely Connected

Smithfield Police are investigating crimes discovered Sunday morning at three businesses.

Police said someone broke into Cricket’s Grill at 506 E. Market Street and stole a cash register.   Next door, at Black’s Tire & Auto at 512 E. Market Street, someone broke into five vehicles in the parking lot. Items taken from the vehicles included tools and a flex spending card.

Officers were dispatched later to Jackson Automotive at 206 S. Brightleaf Boulevard. Someone had removed catalytic converters from two Toyota vehicles.  The three incidents are all believed to be connected.

In an unrelated incident, police were summoned to Smithfield Community Park after a concession stand was broken into and a small amount of money was stolen from a safe.

No arrests have been made but police say they are following up on a few leads.

Anyone with information about any of the crimes is asked to contact the Smithfield Police Department at 919-934-2121 or Police Tip Line at 919-989-8835.
