It was suppose to be a first date. Instead a woman says she was severely beaten and sexually assaulted by a man she had just met on an internet dating app. The suspect was arrested five days later by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office and remains in custody on a $5 million bond.
The 20 year-old victim told authorities the horrific incident started May 14th. She reportedly met a man on a dating app and agreed to drive to Johnston County to meet in person. The victim said after arriving at an undisclosed location the suspect, Kanijah Nigal Crisp, 23, persuaded her to go with him to an address off of Buffalo Road.
While at this location, the victim said she was hit in the head repeatedly and physically beaten with an unknown weapon. She suffered a skull fracture and serious injuries. After Crisp allegedly brutally raped the victim, he then electronically stole money from her using her cell phone.
Crisp allegedly forced the woman to drive him back to his neighborhood and drop him off. The victim then sought medical treatment and contacted law enforcement.
Sheriff’s investigators said the victim did not know the suspect’s name. Investigators worked for several days to identify Crisp who was arrested May 19th.
Kanijah Nigal Crisp of Pine Walk Circle, Garner, is charged with first-degree forcible rape, first degree kidnapping, attempted first-degree forcible sexual offense and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
