Four people have been arrested on weapons charges after a Johnston County SAFE Team deputy stopped a car outside of Benson Saturday night. Around 10:00pm, the deputy stopped a Volkwagon on Old Fairground Road near Zack’s Mill Road. Four people were in the car, including the 15 year-old driver.
During a search of the vehicle, three handguns and a bandana were located and seized. One of the guns had been reported stolen.
Darrell Antonio Debnam, 34, of N. Smith Street, Clayton; Keith Eric Woodard, 16, of Traebert Court, Knightdale; Reginald Bernard Gardner Jr., 17, of Garrett Drive, Zebulon; and the 15 year-old juvenile were arrested on weapons charges.
Debnam was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a stolen firearm. He was held in the Johnston County Jail under a $75,000 bond.
Woodard was charged with possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a handgun by a minor and carrying a concealed gun. Bail was set at $20,000.
Gardner was charged with possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a handgun by a minor and carrying a concealed gun. Bail was set at $20,000.
The 15 year-old was confined in a juvenile detention center. Officers also impounded the car the juvenile was driving.
