Deputies Identify Break-In Suspect Posing As Contractor

BENSON – Two months after a southern Johnston County home was broken into by a man posing as a contractor a suspect has been charged.

On the morning of August 16th, the suspect parked a work truck in the driveway of a home in the 9800 block of Highway 96 South in the Meadow community then placed traffic cones around the vehicle as if to appear they were doing work in the area.

However, deputies said the suspect forcibly entered the rear door of the unoccupied home. He fled from the scene after a security alarm activated. No items were reported stolen.

Photos of the suspect were posted on Johnston County Report. Viewers who saw the photos contacted the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office with tips.

On October 9th, James Madison Holt, 53, of Mamie Road, Benson was arrested for felony breaking and entering. He was incarcerated on a $10,000 secured bond.
