The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office arrested four people on felony drug charges in unrelated incidents between April 18th – 21st.
US 70 Traffic Stop
On April 18th, a SAFE Team deputy was on patrol on Highway 70 East near Princeton when he stopped a Chevy Impala for a traffic violation. The driver, Erica Jane Lusk, 27, of Townview Drive, Pine Level reportedly had a permanently suspended drivers license.
The officer said he detected an odor of marijuana coming from the car. Lusk allegedly admitted to having a small bag of marijuana in the center console. The deputy located the bag containing about 1 gram of marijuana. During a search of her wallet, 0.1 gram of suspected cocaine was located inside a folded $1 bill. Lusk reportedly told the deputy she forgot the cocaine was in her wallet.
Lusk was charged with felony possession of cocaine, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $100,000.
Unconscious Man In McDonald’s Bathroom
Around 6:00pm on Friday, April 19th, deputies were summoned to assist EMS and fire department first responders to a medical call at the McDonald’s on Glen Road at Highway 42 in Cleveland. Crews had responded to a report of an unconscious man on the floor in the men’s bathroom. Officer said the man, 24 year-old Sawyer Chase Ryder Crowder of Wiggins Road, Angier was unable to respond to simple questions and appeared to be under the influence of an impairing substance.
A brown bag was located next to Crowder. Inside, deputies said they found two syringes. One syringe allegedly contained a liquid that was identified as heroin. After receiving medical treatment, Crowder was charged with felony possession of heroin. He was confined in the Johnston County Jail under a $20,000 bond.
Driver Asleep At Gas Pump
At 2:44am on Sunday, April 21st, a deputy who was on routine patrol stopped in the parking lot of the Sheetz on Highway 210 near Interstate 40. The officer said he observed a car sitting stationary at a fuel pump much longer than usual. The deputy said he asked the store clerk about the vehicle then walked up to the car and noticed a man asleep in the driver’s seat.
Deputies said the man was 22 year-old Jarrett Allen Daniels of Adams Road, Benson. Daniels allegedly told the officer he was tired and must have fallen asleep. In plain view, the deputy said he saw a small bag of white powder that appeared to be crystal methamphetamine. The deputy seized the bag which allegedly contained 2 grams of suspected crystal meth.
Daniels was charged with felony possession of methamphetamines and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Daniels was taken before a magistrate at the Johnston County Courthouse where his bond was set at $2,500.
Search Of Four Oaks Home
On April 21st around 9:30pm, NC Probation & Parole requested the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office assist them with the search of a home on Tali Lane near Four Oaks, the address of Johnny Ray Lazar who is currently on probation. During the warrantless search, a condition of Lazar’s probation, 2 grams of suspected methamphetamine were allegedly located inside a car. Inside the home, officers said they found several glass smoking pipes.
Lazar was jailed on a $15,000 bond charged with felony possession of methamphetamines, misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
