For the second time this week, a Johnston County deputy sheriff has been injured by a suspect.
Around 7:00pm Tuesday, a deputy had gone to a home on Clearwater Drive in Wilson’s Mills to serve an arrest warrant on 22 year-old Khalif Abdul Carter.
Carter was wanted on a Wake County warrant for communicating threats.
The deputy placed Carter in handcuffs but the suspect refused to get into the back seat of his patrol car. During a struggle, the deputy was kicked in the chest and sustained minor injuries.
With the assistance of a Wilson’s Mills police officer, the deputy was able to subdue Carter and transport him to the Johnston County Jail.
Carter was charged with felony assault on a law enforcement officer and misdemeanor resisting arrest. He was jailed in lieu of a $75,000 bond.
