Disgruntled Customers Damage Cash Register, Shatter Restaurant Window

Authorities are trying to track down two customers who allegedly caused over $1,000 in damage at an area Waffle House.  It happened just after 1:00am Tuesday at the Waffle House on Highway 42 near Interstate 40 in Cleveland.

Employees told Johnston County deputies that two customers ordered food to go but began complaining about the service.  The customers were issued a refund but before leaving one of the customers walked behind the counter and engaged in a verbal altercation with an employee.

Prior to leaving, the two suspects allegedly damaged the cash register.  While outside one of the suspects threw a rock against a window causing it to shatter.  Total damage was estimated at $1,150.

The suspects fled in a vehicle before officers arrived.

A detective has been assigned to the case.
