DNA Links Kenly Man To Sexual Assault, Authorities Say

WAYNE COUNTY – A Johnston County man has been arrested for a sexual assault reported in Wayne County.

Christopher Hart Daniels, age 38, of Blande Drive, Kenly was arrested August 1, 2022 by the Clayton Police Department. Daniels was served with a Wayne County Sheriff’s Office arrest warrant for second-degree rape.

On May 29, 2022, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a sexual assault that occurred in the Dudley area of Wayne County. Through DNA testing conducted at the North Carolina State Crime Lab, Daniels was reportedly identified as the perpetrator, and warrants were secured for his arrest.

During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the victim and suspect were known acquaintances of one another. No additional information was released.

Daniels was held on a $75,000 secured bond.
