Driver Arrested After Passing Marked Patrol Car At 120 MPH

What happens if you pass a marked patrol car while you’re speeding 120 miles per hour?  You go to jail.

Around 4:00am today (Friday), a Johnston County deputy sheriff was traveling on the US 70 Clayton Bypass when he was passed by a Chevy Sonic compact passenger car traveling at 120MPH in a 70mph zone.

The officer was able to catch up to the speeding car and stop it as took the Ranch Road Exit.

The driver, identified as 25 year-old Christopher Drew Jones of Hemmingway Court, Clayton allegedly admitted to drinking prior to driving.  Jones allegedly used frequent profanity towards officers, even telling one deputy, when asked to submit to a Breathalyzer test, “F**k you.”

Jones refused to take a breathalyzer but did submit to a blood sample.

Jones was charged with driving while impaired, speeding and reckless driving.  His car was also impounded.

Jones was held under a $10,000 bond.
