A motorist who ran from a traffic stop Wednesday night is facing criminal charges. Around 7:30pm, police said 48 year-old Christopher Scott Brown of Goldsboro passed an unmarked Smithfield police car traveling on N. Brightleaf Boulevard.
The officer said Brown, who was operating a 2019 Toyota Corolla, was speeding and driving recklessly. The officer had to slam on brakes in his unmarked cruiser to avoid striking the Toyota.
The officer pulled over the vehicle on N. Brightleaf Boulevard near Booker Dairy Road. Brown allegedly ran from the traffic stop but was quickly detained.
Brown was charged with resisting an officer and reckless driving to endanger. He was given a $5,000 secured bond pending a Nov. 24th court appearance.
