Driver Arrested, Car Seized Following High Speed Chase

CLAYTON – A 20 year-old man was arrested and his Ford Mustang seized by law enforcement following a brief high speed chase in the Cleveland community. It started around 1:40am Saturday, April 2nd.

A Johnston County deputy sheriff was stationary on Cleveland Road running radar when a Ford Mustang passed by the officer traveling 62 mph in a 45 mph zone. The officer turned on his blue lights and siren to stop the vehicle but the driver refused to pull over.

The fleeing driver reportedly accelerated to 80 mph before skidding to a stop near the intersection of Sumter Drive and Alice Drive. Jordan Blake Huffin of Raleigh tried to walk away from the car but was immediately detained.

Huffin was charged with felony fleeing to elude arrest, driving on a revoked license, speeding, and reckless driving. He was held on a $50,000 secured bond at the Johnston County Jail.
