A motorist who reportedly ran a Downtown Smithfield stoplight in front of a deputy sheriff ended up in jail. At 10:20am Thursday, March 18th, an unmarked narcotics officer with the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office saw a car run through a red light at the intersection of North Second and Bridge Street.
The officer stopped the vehicle, which was displaying a handmade “Lost Tag” license plate sign in the rear window.
The driver, identified as 33 year-old Cayla Rae Pynacker of Saint Mary’s Church Road, Lucama, was reportedly found to have 2.5 grams of methamphetamine, 0.2 grams of cocaine, and 0.7 grams of marijuana in her possession.
Pynacker was charged with four felony and one misdemeanor drug violations. She was held on a $36,000 bond at the Johnston County Jail.
