A driver who attempted to outrun law enforcement officers driving a pickup truck with two flat tires didn’t make it very far.
Around 6:30pm Sunday, deputies responded to a domestic call at a home in the Cleveland community. The male party allegedly involved in the domestic incident left the residence in his 2017 Dodge pickup truck before officers arrived. He was reported to possibly be under the influence.
Minutes later, deputies received a call from a concerned citizen reporting a possible intoxicated man standing beside a Dodge pickup in the parking lot of Walmart on Highway 42 in Cleveland. While an officer was responding to Walmart he spotted the pickup truck speeding on Government Road near Highway 42. The truck also had two flat passenger side tires. The officer attempted to stop the truck but the driver allegedly failed to pull over. The chase briefly reached speeds of 80 miles per hour before the driver stopped.
Dana William Larson, 35, of Mary Meadows Lane, Clayton was arrested and his truck seized.
Larson was held under a $50,000 bond on charges of fleeing to elude arrest, driving while impaired, reckless driving to endanger and speeding. Officers said they obtained a blood sample from Larson for the DWI offense.
No injuries were reported during the brief pursuit.
