Driver Of Illegally Parked Vehicle Leads Police On Chase, Drugs Seized

CLAYTON – Clayton Police seized several ounces of cocaine and marijuana and arrested two people Saturday night. It started out at the Food Lion on US 70 Business.

Police Chief Greg Tart said an officer was investigating an illegally parked vehicle in the fire lane in front of the grocery store. As the officer was talking with the driver, he sped away. In the process the suspect hit a parked car.

Near the intersection of US 70 and NC 42 East, the suspect struck a tree near Sheetz. The vehicle continued on NC 42 East and Front Street behind the Speedway where the car became disabled due to a flat tire.

The driver fled on foot but was apprehended in the vicinity of Guy C. Lee Lumber Company, Chief Tart said.

Donta Lawrence Goode, age 39, of Raleigh is facing multiple traffic charges, drug possession violations, and carrying a concealed weapon by a felon.

A female passenger was also charged.

No one was injured.
