Driver Passed Out At Fuel Pump Arrested

CLAYTON –  A Johnston County man was arrested and held on an $80,000 secured bond after deputies reportedly spotted him passed out in a car.  Around 3:10am Wednesday, a patrol deputy reportedly saw a suspicious Chevy Tahoe parked at the fuel pump at the Cleveland Emporium at 9005 Cleveland Road.

The deputy was able to awaken the lone occupant in the car, 39 year-old Christopher Thomas O’Neal of Indian Camp Road, Clayton.  In plain view, the deputy reportedly saw a clear plastic bag containing a small amount of suspected methamphetamine.  Drug paraphernalia was also located, according to a report.

A check on the SUV determined it was displaying the license plate from another vehicle.  The vehicle was towed.

O’Neal was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, felony possession with intent to manufacture sell or deliver a controlled substance, felony maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance, and two misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.  O’Neal was given an $80,000 bail at the Johnston County Jail.
