Driver Speeding 92MPH Arrested For DWI

SELMA – A motorist clocked speeding 92mph in a 60mph zone on Highway 70 in Selma was arrested on impaired driving charges. At 10:47pm Saturday, May 8th, a Selma police officer was on patrol when he observed a 2018 Dodge Charger speeding westbound.

The officer stopped the car for the speeding violation. The driver, Miguel Angel Perez Gaona, 26, of Garrett Road, Durham, claimed the officer had clocked another vehicle but the officer told Gaona he was the only vehicle around.

Gaona told police he was returning from a birthday party in Princeton. He reportedly failed a field sobriety test and was arrested for impaired driving. He later registered 0.09 on the Breathalyzer, higher than the legal limit of 0.08.

Gaona was charged with driving while impaired, driving without a license, reckless driving, speeding 92 in a 60mph zone, having an open container of alcohol, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the Johnston County Jail and later released on a $2,500 bond.

  1. The border is open and half of South America is on it way folks. I’m not a scientist or a CPA but does anyone expect this acceptable way of life south of the Texas Border to continue elevating these kind of traffic situations here? Not a problem until it involves one of your love ones.

    • I was going to say the same thing except you beat me to it. The situation is getting worse and worse and then you have judges that let them out on bond for pennies. This makes me sick!
