Drug Arrests Made During Death Investigation

SMITHFIELD – Two Smithfield area residents are facing felony drug charges. The arrests were made as part of an investigation into the death of a 33 year-old man.

On April 22, Johnston County EMS and the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a man not breathing at an address in the 900 block of Braswell Road. The man was located outside the residence. Lifesaving efforts were not successful.

Deputies were denied entry inside the dwelling, where the man had been when he reportedly stopped breathing, to investigate his death.

Sheriff’s detectives executed a search warrant to gain access and reportedly found suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine. Several firearms were located.

On April 25, Rowdy Steve Hill Jr., age 51, and Sheree Lynn Sikovsek, age 48, both of 940 Braswell Road, Smithfield were arrested.

Hill was charged with four counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for a controlled substance, possession with intent to manufacture sell or deliver methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $50,000.

Sikovsek was charged with maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for a controlled substance, possession with intent to manufacture sell or deliver methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond was placed at $25,000.

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office said the cause of death for the 33 year-old man remains under active investigation.
