Drug-Laced Photo Mailed To Inmate Intercepted At Johnston County Jail

A drug-laced piece of mail was intercepted this week at the Johnston County Jail.

WTSB News has learned a letter mailed to an inmate allegedly contained a photograph that had been laced with opiates.

The inmate, Anthony Wayne Barnes, 34, of Holly Grove Road, Benson had been in the Johnston County Jail since May 13th when he was charged with felony probation violation.

Barnes was charged by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office with possession of a controlled substance and conspiracy to sell or deliver a controlled substance.

The investigation into the incident is still ongoing. No additional details were released due to the ongoing investigation.
