Drugs Found After Police Respond To Car Collision

A driver was arrested by Smithfield Police on felony drug charges at the scene of two vehicle traffic accident. Smithfield Police, Smithfield Fire, and Johnston County EMS responded to the 11:58am accident Tuesday on Market Street near South Seventh Street.

Police said a 2004 Acura being driven by Norris Bland Revis Jr., 22, of Lawson Court, Smithfield pulled from the parking lot of Glam-O-Rama Cleaners across the eastbound travel lanes of Market Street and failed to yield for an eastbound Ford truck driven by Joseph Barry Quinn of Golfer Crossing Lane, Selma.  Revis was not injured, however Quinn was transported to Johnston Medical Center with minor injuries.

Police said when they arrived at the scene they detected an odor of marijuana coming from Revis’ car.  Officers said they located a concealed handgun in the glove box.  A search of the 22 year-old man’s pockets revealed suspected ecstasy pills, cocaine, and marijuana.

Revis was charged with trafficking in MDMA, possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and carrying a concealed weapon.  He was also cited for an unsafe movement violation.

Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.  Damage to the Acura was estimated at $7,000. Damage to the Ford was placed at $5,000.
