Drugs Found In Car, Behind Business During Traffic Stop

Two Clayton teenagers are facing felony drug charges stemming from a weekend traffic stop.

A Johnston County deputy was on routine patrol around 5:15pm Saturday and spotted a suspicious vehicle on Cleveland Road and conducted a traffic stop.

The deputy stopped the car in the parking lot of the Dollar General on Cleveland Road.  While speaking with the driver the passenger left on foot and went behind the business.

During a search of the car, 35.5 grams of marijuana was reportedly found.  Deputies later located 39.3 grams of marijuana the passenger allegedly threw behind the store.

Daniel Cody Steinbach, 18, of Skygrove Drive, and Brandon Miguel Diaz, 18, of Jack Road, were both charged with possession with intent to manufacture sell or deliver a controlled substance, felony possession of marijuana and maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance.

Steinbach was also charged with felony probation violation.  His bail was set at $50,000. Bond for Diaz was placed at $40,000.
