A former employee at a John Deere location in Johnston County has been arrested.
Officials at the John Deere Turf Care warehouse near Benson reported recently a large quantity of bushings had been stolen. The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office began investigating and determined 88 pounds of the stolen property had been sold to a Dunn recycling business in May. An additional 366 pounds of bushings was sold in June and 192 pounds sold in July to the same metal recycler.
On Wednesday, Jeffrey Roy Blackman, 48, of the 800 block of East Sanders Street in Four Oaks was arrested and charged with three counts of larceny by an employee, three counts of possession of stolen property and three counts of obtaining property by false pretenses. Bail was set at $50,000.
The stolen items were valued at approximately $3,000.
