Employee Kept Bank Deposits And Never Returned, JCSO Says

BENSON – A former employee at a Johnston County business has been arrested after she allegedly kept money from bank deposits she was entrusted to make and never return to work. The incidents happened May 13, 14, and 15th.

Lori Ann Evans, 49, of Meadowbrook Road, Benson was reportedly employed at the Dollar General at 7319 NC Highway 50 South in the Meadow community. On three consecutive days, Evans was entrusted to make the bank deposits for the store but instead kept the money, according to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office. After the thefts, she failed to show back up at work.

Altogether, Evans allegedly stole $11,000.83.

Warrants were obtained for her arrest after the incident. On September 5th, Evans was arrested in Columbus County by Chadbourn Police. She was served with the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office warrant charging her with larceny by an employee.

Evans is awaiting trial on the felony charge.
