Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine Drive-Thru Clinic

Smithfield, NC – The Johnston County Public Health Department will hold a Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine drive-thru clinic this Thursday, September 30, 2021 from 10:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. at the BrightLeaf Flea Market. The flea market is located at 2320 South Brightleaf Blvd. in Smithfield.
First, second, “additional” and “booster” doses will be available at the drive-thru clinic. The Health Department will only offer the Pfizer vaccine at this event. Individuals are encouraged to bring their vaccination card.
Last week the CDC’s Independent Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommended certain populations receive a booster shot of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at least six months after the completion of their Pfizer vaccine primary series.
CDC recommendations for booster doses include:
People 65 years and older and residents in long-term care settings should receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series;
People ages 50 to 64 with certain underlying medical conditions should receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series;
People 18 to 49 who are at high risk for severe COVID-19 due to certain underlying medical conditions may receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine at least six months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series, based on their individual benefits and risks; and
People ages 18-64 years who are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of occupational or institutional setting may receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine at least six months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series, based on their individual benefits and risks.
Certain Underlying Medical Conditions are defined by the CDC as:
Cancer, Chronic Kidney Disease, Chronic Lung Diseases (COPD, Asthma, Interstitial Lung Disease, Cystic Fibrosis, Pulmonary HTN), Dementia/Other Neurological Conditions, Diabetes Type 1 or 2, Down Syndrome, Heart Conditions (heart failure, coronary artery disease, cardiomyopathies, hypertension), HIV, Immunocompromised state/weakened immune system, Liver Disease, Overweight and Obesity, Pregnancy, Sickle Cell Disease/Thalassemia, Current or Former Smoker, Solid Organ or Blood Stem Cell Transplant, Stroke, Cerebrovascular Disease, Substance Use Disorders
Individuals who meet the criteria listed above and received their second dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine on or before 3/30/21 are eligible for a booster dose at this event.
The booster dose should be the same vaccine product as the initial two-dose mRNA COVID-19 primary vaccine series (Pfizer-BioNTech). A person should not receive more than three mRNA COVID-19 vaccine doses.
Pfizer booster doses are also being offered at the Health Department Monday- Friday from 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. and on Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m.
