Faith & Blue Community Event October 8

SMITHFIELD – The Smithfield Police Department is partnering with LifeSpring Church to host Faith and Blue weekend on Saturday, October 8th at Smith-Collins Park, located at 909 East Lee Street. From 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., citizens can enjoy a free pig-pickin’, pumpkin painting, bounce houses, popcorn, cotton candy and more.

National Faith & Blue weekend was launched to facilitate safer, stronger, more just and unified communities by directly enabling local partnerships among law enforcement professionals, residents, businesses and community groups through the connections of local faith-based organizations.

At the heart of this initiative is the reinforcement of connections between law enforcement professionals and the communities they serve through the reach of houses of worship. These connections are built through activities that are held in neighborhoods of every kind across the united states, jointly hosted by houses of worship and local law enforcement entities.

  1. FEC records show a good number of donates from MovementForward Inc (the folks behind “Faith and Blue”) to ActBlue (which is the major Super PAC for the DNC). There’s some political dogwhistling going on here.

  2. Or maybe the Smithfield Police Department is just genuinely trying to have an event with the community to build stronger ties within the community? Maybe it’s not politically motivated at all?

      I agree with you!
Some folks are always looking for ANYTHING they can possibly turn into
      something negative.
That level of ignorance will always keep our county ‘slow’.

  3. I’ve not heard of this before and think it’s a really good idea! Hopefully next year my church can participate 💙
