A 68 year-old Kenly man was arrested Sunday and held without bond pending a first court appearance after he allegedly stabbed his son with a machete-style knife.
The stabbing was reported at 11:55am Sunday at the home of Melvin Harold Grice in the 100 block of Beulahtown Road outside of Kenly.
The victim, 41 year-old Randy Harold Grice, who lives at the address with his father, reportedly told authorities he was learning glassblowing and accidentally burned the floor in the home. During an argument over the burnt floor, Melvin Grice is accused of stabbing his son in the arm causing a severe deep laceration.
Johnston County EMS paramedics rushed Randy Grice to Wake Med for treatment. Melvin Grice was taken into custody and charged by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office with felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
