Felon Caught With Stolen Car, JCSO Says

CLAYTON – A Jeep Wrangler stolen from a Kenly woman was recovered by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.
David Zapata, age 45, of Apex, NC, was arrested by deputies on July 22 after he was allegedly caught operating the vehicle on Cornwallis Road near Clayton.
A 9mm handgun and a small quantity of suspected marijuana were located in a stolen vehicle and seized.
Zapata was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, possession of a firearm by a felon, simple possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was held under a $70,000 secured bond.
