Football Team Serves Meal To 300 First Responders

A local high school football team wanted to do something unique and special for Johnston County first responders.

Members of the Smithfield Selma High School football team decided they wanted to provide a meal to local law enforcement, fire, and EMS personnel.  The team collected donations from Johnston County businesses and purchased enough food to prepare 300 plates.

The food was served to area police officers, deputies, state troopers, firefighters and paramedics last Friday, May 18th.

The football players simply wanted to show their appreciate to the brave men and women and to thank them for their service.

“I would just like to thank all of my players, my coaching staff, and our awesome principal Mr. David Allen for all of their help and support for our vision for this program,” stated SSS Football Coach Mike Parrish. “Without these guys none of this would have been possible. We are building something special here and want community and a sense of family at the heart of it.”
