A former employee at a Four Oaks area landscaping business was arrested Thursday after he allegedly stole lawn equipment then sold it at pawn shops.
During his arrest, 28 year-old Jared Preston Moore of the 9000 block of Highway 301 South, Four Oaks allegedly admitted to taking the items saying he needed the money.
Moore reportedly failed to show up after a chainsaw, trimmer, drill and battery went missing from the landscaping business on Kenan Road last week. The items, valued at $950, were later found at area pawn shops and recovered by sheriff’s detectives. Moore had only been employed by the business a few weeks.
Moore was charged by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office with six felony offenses, including larceny, two counts of larceny by an employee, and three counts of obtaining property by false pretenses. Moore was confined Thursday night in the Johnston County Jail under a $40,000 bond.
Moore, a convicted felon, was found guilty in 2017 for breaking into several of his neighbors homes on Highway 301 South in late-2016. Some of the stolen items were later found at a Raleigh pawn shop.
