Former Superintendent Hired By Neighboring School District

Former Johnston County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Ross Renfrow has been hired by a neighboring school district.  Dr. Renfrow was hired August 25, 2021 by Wilson County Schools as the interim assistant principal at Toisnot Middle School.

On September 14, he transitioned to the role of Safety and COVID-19 Response Coordinator for the Wilson County school district. 

According to his contract, Dr. Renfrow will work as a consultant through June 30, 2022 and perform “…other consultative services as assigned by the Administration of Wilson County Schools.”

Dr. Renfrow will work “up to 29.5 hours per week” as Safety and COVID-19 Response Coordinator and will be paid $4,656.58 per month.  Dr. Lane Mills, Superintendent and Dr. Ben Williams, Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services will communicate assignments to Dr. Renfrow, according to the contract. 

The school district or Dr. Renfrow can cancel the contract with one day notice if either party is dissatisfied with the terms and a resolution cannot be reached.

Dr. Renfrow retired as Superintendent of Johnston County Public Schools in August 2019.

  1. He is a great person and clearly not given the credit he was due in JoCo. I know he will serve the county of Wilson well and they are lucky to have him.

  2. He was a really high-paid bozo. Should we hold the School Board personally financially responsible for the fiduciary violation!!!!
