A sexual predator wanted by the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Corrections has been captured in the local area.
Gary McGlothlin Jr. absconded parole in Maryland in early June after serving part of his sentence for multiple sex offenses and made his way to North Carolina.
Authorities received a tip on Tuesday that the 51 year-old suspect was at a home in Pikeville.
Wayne County deputies and Pikeville Police went to the home and took McGlothlin into custody. Officials said he was at the location for less than 48 hours.
McGlothlin is being held in the Wayne County Jail without bond pending extradition to Maryland on fugitive charges.
