A Clayton teenager is behind bars under a $25,000 bond for the alleged assault and robbery of his grandfather. The incident happened around Noon Monday on Government Road.
The 70 year-old victim was at home when he said his grandson, 18 year-old Marcus Antonio Dunston Jr., who lives at the same address, struck him in the face, reached into his pocket and stole his cell phone before leaving on foot.
Deputies arrived and found the victim suffering from injuries to his face including some bleeding. The victim repeatedly denied treatment by EMS or transport to the hospital.
Officer said they spotted Dunston a short distance away on Government Road. When he saw deputies he ran into a wooded area. After a brief manhunt, the teen was located but he resisted arrest when a deputy tried to place him in handcuffs.
Dunston was charged with common law robbery, assault, possession of stolen property and possession of less than 1/2 ounce of marijuana. The cell phone was recovered and returned to the victim.
