Heavy Rains Blamed For 1,875 Gallon Sewage Spill

Thursday night’s severe rain event is being blamed for a 1,875 gallon discharge of untreated wastewater.

The sewage spilled from a manhole near the Town of Clayton Wastewater Treatment Plant located at 1000 Durham Street.

The untreated wastewater entered a storm drain leading to Little Creek.

The NC Division of Water Resources was notified of the event Friday and is reviewing the incident.
