Homeless Man Arrested For Car Break-Ins, Vehicle Theft

A homeless man was arrested last week for allegedly breaking into vehicles on Logans Lane off Highway 231 in northern Johnston County. Around 5:30am Thursday, a homeowner reported his truck had been stolen from his driveway. The victim located the vehicle about 300 yards away parked next to the wood line where a homeless couple had been living in a tent for several days.

Deputies arrived to investigate the truck theft and were notified by two other victims their vehicles had been broken into. Officers located Andrew Crabtree, 42, at the campsite. Crabtree was charged with two counts of breaking and entering motor vehicles and one count of larceny of a motor vehicle.  He was confined in the Johnston County Jail on a $25,000 secured bond.
