A routine traffic stop on Interstate 95 between Benson and Four Oaks on Thursday resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of cocaine.
At 2:51pm, a Johnston County SAFE Team deputy was on patrol in the northbound lane of I-95 near the 83 mile marker when he spotted a 2018 Kia commit a traffic violation. The SAFE Team deputy stopped the vehicle and during a consent search located approximately a half-kilo of cocaine with an estimated street value of $12,000.
The driver, William Robert Frost, 41, of Rocky Mount, was charged with trafficking in cocaine, conspiracy to traffic in cocaine, maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Frost was incarcerated in the Johnston County Jail under a $1 million bond. Officers also impounded his vehicle.
