An inmate in the Johnston County Jail is facing new charges after he allegedly assaulted and injured a detention officer.
Arkeem Marquise Ward, 25, of Raleigh has been charged with felony assault causing physical injury on a detention employee. On December 7th, a 45 year-old detention officer was making his rounds and asked Ward to go back into his cell. Ward reportedly threw a carton of milk on the officer then attempted to run.
While detaining Ward, the inmate allegedly punched the officer and bit his finger. The officer was treated by a jail nurse for minor injuries.
Ward was in jail after his arrest in November on a motor vehicle break-in warrant.
