Innocent 6 Year-Old Struck By Gunfire

CLINTON – A 6 year-old child was seriously injured in a weekend shooting. The search is on for the suspect or suspects responsible.

It happened around 1:00am Saturday in the 1100 block of Mill Creek Church Road near Clinton.  The Sampson County Sheriff’s Office said deputies discovered shots had been fired into a home and an innocent young girl had been struck. 

The child was rushed to Cape Fear Valley Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Sheriff’s detectives collected evidence at the scene and have conducted multiple interviews in an effort to track down those responsible for the shooting.

“We are thankful for the cooperation of those involved in the investigation.  It is through their cooperation and knowledge of those potentially involved only that we will be able to solve this tragic and devastating incident,” said Lt. Marcus Smith.
